4-Year Blogiversary!

I can’t believe I’ve had a blog for 4 years now. I never thought I’d actually stick with it, nor gain more than 5 followers. It started out as a way to keep myself occupied and dedicated to reading, but has turned into much more for me personally.

I do not consider myself a good writer (hence wanting to be an editor). My book reviews are often super opinionated and written casually. Nevertheless, writing these reviews has helped keep my passion for reading alive and given me the opportunity to have something of my own. It may not be much, but it’s important to me.

My blog also inspired me to join other social media, such as Instagram and Twitter. Though I use Twitter more for personal reasons than promoting my blog, my Instagram is basically a bookstagram. I am super amateur compared to the incredible people within the bookstagram community, but I love it nonetheless. With every photo I strive to get more creative. I love pairing these photos with my reviews.

Reading has always been an escape for me and always will be. Finishing a book is like losing a friend, but I have always enjoyed finishing one so that I may start another. Since creating my blog and bookstagram, finishing a book also means getting to take pretty pictures and talk about the book.

Maybe no one actually reads what I have to say—maybe no one cares—but that has never been important to me. Like I said, I started this blog for me. And I continue it for me. Anyone who reads it is just an added bonus 😊

So, to those of you who read what I write, you mean more to me than you’ll ever know. I’m not a social person. I don’t have many friends. And I like to say that I just don’t like people, but I am starting to believe I’m the problem, not them. I have few friends by choice. And besides, most people I know don’t exactly care about literature in general, let alone actually discussing and analyzing a text. So this blog is my outlet, and those of you who read it are my closest friends.

Usually I talk about my personal life every year on my blogiversary, but I don’t think that necessarily matters much in the grand scheme of things. I do have an About page with that kinda stuff. I’d rather talk about my blog and my books. So that’s what you’re getting.

Every year I share my blog stats.

Here are last year’s:

Total Posts: 211
Total Views: 7,308
Total Visitors: 4,302

Total Followers: 342

Here are this year’s:

Total Posts: 256
Total Views: 9,940
Total Visitors: 5,962

Total Followers: 430

9,000 of those views are probably my own 😛 You ever post something and re-read it 50 times? No? Just me? Okay.

I’m so close to 500 followers, which has been a goal of mine for years now. I keep expecting to just, like, level off and people stop following me. I hope that never happens. For someone with non-existent self-esteem, it’s a real confidence booster 😛

As for my Goodreads Reading Challenge, I am not off to a great start…

Yeah. My goal is usually 100, but I never make it… Life is too busy. So I tried 50, because I usually at least make that, but I’m struggling this year! Hopefully with my book club and having started listening to audiobooks at work, I’ll reach my goal after all.

My first book of the year was The Animators. I read it to prepare for my first Tournament of Books. As of the moment I started this post, the last book I read was Hyperbole and a Half. I read it for book club and unfortunately could not get into it! Review to come after our club meets and discusses later this month 😊

Well, thanks again, everyone, for an amazing year. I actually forgot it was my blogiversary altogether 😫

*goes and makes calendar event immediately*

My girlfriend actually bought me a random gift this weekend, but now I can say it’s a blogiversary gift! Stay tuned to my Instagram to see what I got 😬

Love always, and happy reading! 📚
